The Ultimate Mardi Gras To-Do List

February 28, 2019

If you haven’t quite got the cash for the Sydney Mardi Gras Official Afterparty, but have a serious case of FOMO, never fear. Our list of must-do Mardi Gras events is here! Thank God for the gays, the rainbow season is absolutely jam-packed with delicious music events you can still grab tickets for.

Unicorns
If you’re still searching for that perfect party after the parade, look no further than Unicorns. Why is this the best place for you and your squad? Not only is it held at the spacious Factory Theatre with excellent live acts, but there are also Instagrammable activities sure to make any seasoned partier jealous. There will be eco-glitter stations, body painting, a kissing booth, a photo booth, a temporary tattoo station, and more!

Headlining the event is none other than non-binary Sydney-based singer-songwriter, rapper, and poet Imbi the Girl. Featured as the cover person of Spotify’s Transcendence Playlist, and riding the success of their latest sexy and sultry single ‘Swell’, Imbi the Girl is rearing up to set the music world on fire with their unique combination of poetic lyrics, hip-hop and R&B.

This is a party and a headliner you’ll be sorry to miss!

Laneway
Looking for an after-after party? I take my hat off to you. For all you party animals, Laneway is the perfect end to an eco-glitter-filled weekend. Held at the Beresford in Surry Hills, Laneway features DJs, performances, and spaces for every energy level – for the hungover, seek out the chill out zones, and for the superheros amongst us, seek out the dancefloor.

Headlining this year is the iconic duo of modern dance tunes and powerful vocals, Sneaky Sound System. First making a name for themselves in the music scene in 2006 with chart-topping hits like ‘UFO’, ‘Pictures’ and ‘Love It’, Sneaky Sound System is renowned for pumping up a dancefloor like no one else.

Kim Petras
Already have your Mardi Gras weekend sorted? Don’t worry, there’s more! Transgender electropop artist Kim Petras has announced two sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne on the 4th of March and the 6th of March respectively. In case you were born under a rock, Kim Petras is the up and coming pop princess whose sugary dance party anthems have caught the attention of international pop star Troye Sivan, scoring her a spot as his support act for his 2018 Bloom Tour.

Kim Petras’ freshest single ‘1, 2, 3, Dayz Up’, a collaboration with Grammy-nominated electronic transgender artist, SOPHIE, is a certifiable banger, and well worth your attention when you tear up the dancefloor. Catch the details of where to buy tickets below, and where to sleep off the hangover as well.

Run, don’t walk, to grab your tickets to all these awesome events now. Making a trip out of it? We’ve included some sweet, wallet-friendly accommodation, too! Check it all out at the jump
