The Spookiest Halloween Playlist

October 29, 2019

Crack out the black eyeliner for your last-minute cat costume, Halloween is just around the corner. What better way to get yourself ready for the spooky season than to listen to some terrifying tracks bound to make your hair stand on end? At the very least, you might get some inspiration for a more original costume.

Any spooky playlist would be incomplete without including the spook Queen herself, Billie Eilish. Still enjoying widespread success from her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. The music video for her breakout single ‘bury a friend’ is one of the creepiest clips we’ve ever seen. Hold a friend close when you give this a watch. Funnily enough, Billie’s iconic style of oversized clothes and layered necklaces is picked to be one of the most popular costumes for Halloween this year.

Phoebe Bridgers can take you on an emotional journey like no other artist. Heartbreakingly beautiful and sorrowful all at once, her debut album Strangers in the Alps captures the spirit of longing and mourning perfectly. A different kind of spooky, this album is haunted with ghosts from Phoebe’s own life creating an ethereal and otherworldly vibe. Give ‘Killer’ a listen for some extra creepy Jeffrey Dahmer references.

While Alex Lahey’s music typically skews to a happy note, her recent cover of My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ suggests there’s a darker side to her work. Perhaps something she’s working on for her next album? With even Gerard Way praising her cover, you’ve got to include it in your spooky festivities.

Why not catch some of these artists in the flesh? Keep your Halloween spirit alive way past October 31. We’ve included a couple handy accommodation options as well.
