September Gig Guide

September 6, 2019

Spring has officially sprung and with it has come a quality spread of live music acts we can all sink our teeth into. Crack out your wallets, because this month is offering a doozy genre-buffet to suit any musical taste.

Dune Rats
The ‘Crowd Smurfing’ tour will see this punk trio smash out grungy guitar licks and singalong chorus tunes across Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney mid-September. Dune Rats is consistently one of Australia’s most entertaining live acts on the festival circuit and known for having die-hard fans lovingly referred to as the ‘Dune Platoon’. You’ll be able to catch their latest single ‘Rubber Arm’, which is sure to get the crowds pumping.

Safia
It’s no secret why Safia is one of the best electronic trios in the Aussie music scene. The three bandmates are a tight-knit crew, with storytelling capabilities that even far more established musicians can’t compete with. Listening to their latest album ‘Story’s Start or End’ is a beautiful transcendental wave with an innovative hip hop twist that hasn’t been done before.

Birds of Tokyo
Birds of Tokyo frontman Ian Kenny’s heartache was laid bare in the rock band’s latest single ‘Good Lord’, which dissected the betrayal and fallout of his marriage breakdown. Since its release, the band has enjoyed sitting pretty at No. 1 on the Australian charts and a nearly sold out national tour. Guitarist and co-songwriter Adam Spark commented on the success, “there’s great power in vulnerability, and that sort of thing really should have a flow-on effect to, I guess in some ways, inspire other people to say ‘hey, weakness is not being sensitive and being vulnerable’.” Definitely one to catch if you’re going through your own heartache!

If anything catches your eye, better jump on those tickets fast! They won’t be around forever. We’ve also included some accommodation options for you to enjoy a weekend away.
