Australia’s favourite marsupial rockers, The Wombats, took Sydney by storm last night for their Splendour in the Grass sideshow at Hordern Pavilion. Fresh from playing the Byron Bay festival, the group showed no signs of exhaustion, delivering a high-energy performance that was only matched by the sheer roar of the crowd.
With four albums under their belt, The Wombats had a wealth of musical material to draw upon for the gig. They blasted through their impressive back catalogue of tracks, bringing all the throwback vibes (‘Kill The Director’, anyone?), whilst also paying homage to their latest release, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life. Crowd favourites included ‘Turn’, ‘Greek Tragedy’ and of course ‘Tokyo’.
The Wombats played a very fruitful set last night. #thewombats #music #concert #gig #livemusic #anothersongaboutlemons A post shared by Meals (@amelia.tracey) on
Australia has somewhat of an obsession with The Wombats. They’re touring Australia twice this year – twice! Maybe it’s the marsupial connection? Either way, the boys will be back later in the year for Spilt Milk festival. If you didn’t catch ‘em this time around, or just can’t seem to get enough – check out the details below:
