One of Australia’s most beloved and iconic singer-songwriters, Paul Kelly, has announced his new ‘Making Gravy’ tour in the wake of a stellar year. The tour, named after one of his most famous hits ‘How To Make Gravy’, will feature none other than brother-sister duo Angus & Julia Stone in support, and is sure to rock the country.
Paul Kelly shed some insight into the mega track during his keynote address at BigSound 2018 last week, noting that he never thought it would become what is has. “It’s set in a jail…it’s a bit bleak. As a songwriter, it’s interesting to see what songs resonate with audiences. Sometimes it’s a surprise,” Paul said.
In a room full of budding singers and musicians, Paul gave some unorthodox advice about being in the industry. “It’s not too hard…being a songwriter,” Paul said to laughter. “I mean, most of the time I’m just bored, playing around, and then a song will hit me. I don’t actively try to write a song. It should happen naturally.”
Paul’s had a pretty huge year. After winning Song of the Year as the ARIAs, Paul announced his upcoming ‘Making Gravy’ tour. He’s also recently appeared on The Weekly’s ‘Hard Chat’ with Tom Gleeson.
