Guitar in hand, Vance Joy took to the stage last night to a sea of screaming Sydney fans. Openers, Dadirri and Cub Sport, set the tone of the night with their emotionally-fueled, uplifting tracks, but when Vance entered stage right, there was no doubt the crowd was there for the ‘Mess Is Mine’ singer.
Vance burned through guitars almost as fast as he burned through his impressive catalogue. A mix of old and new, Vance gave punters all they wanted and more. Audience favourites included ‘Like Gold,’ ‘Georgia’ and show-closer, ‘Saturday Sun’.
The Melbourne-born star, who catapulted to success off the back of chart-topping hit ‘Riptide’, performed with a mix emotion and quiet confidence. Vance also told a few awkward stories along the way which was endearing nonetheless.
