For all you interstate travellers looking to hit up the best spots to catch a gig while you’re in Sydney, you are in luck! We’ve compiled our list of top venues for a fab night out so that you can rest assured knowing you’ll hit the coolest venues and have a night to remember (or at least wish you could)!
Qudos Bank Arena: The venue with the top acts
If you’re into the big-name artists, you can be sure to catch them at Qudos Bank Arena. This venue has the best of both worlds, for all you mosh-crazy dance addicts – you can rely on a guaranteed atmosphere of crowds and excellent mosh pit capacity for you to get in on all the action. But if you prefer to sit back and watch an incredible show with a view, you can also opt for tickets in the seated section. There’s something truly special listening to 20,000 people singing along to an absolute banger of a tune!
Located at Sydney Olympic Park, getting to and from the venue is as simple as jumping on a train. If you’re keen to check out Qudos Bank Arena soon, visit their website and pick up tickets to Fleetwood Mac (15th – 29th August), Hilltop Hoods (31st August) or Shawn Mendes (2nd – 3rd November).
The best place for dinner: Mexica Cocktail Bar
Why not finish off your night with some tequila and a burrito? All produce is purchased fresh from the Flemington Markets and the imported beers, wines, sangria, and tequila is authentically Mexican. No need to book, just walk in!
Enmore Theatre: The venue with the nightlife
Enmore Theatre is the longest running live music venue in NSW and home to an incredible indie music scene. Being situated in the heart of the Inner West, the venue is full of quirks, and looks just like a 1930’s suburban theatre. You can expect nothing but alternate vibes!
Offering an incredible night experience, the Enmore Theatre is excellent proximity to all of Enmore and Newtown’s trendy bars and eateries. Grabbing dinner and drinks with friends, pre or post-concert, is a perfect way to top off the night. To visit a concert at the Enmore Theatre soon, we recommend grabbing tickets to either Lany (15th July), Dave (18th July) or James Blake (23rd July).
The best place for a drink: The Marlborough Hotel
One of the few spots left without a lockout, the Marly is a classic for an afterparty kick on with parties going until 4am. You can catch soul food and rock’n’roll upstairs, the club vibes downstairs in Tokyo Sing-Song, and an old school pub on the middle floor. Something for everyone!
Oxford Art Factory: The venue with the edgiest vibe
If you’re looking for a cool and intimate venue, the Oxford Art Factory is your go-to for catching a lesser-known band on a night out. Featuring both local and touring acts, it offers the chance to get up close and personal with your favorite artists. The venue has an in-house bar that’s great for enjoying a few drinks with friends throughout the show, and as it’s located on Sydney’s infamous Oxford Street, you’ve got heaps of options for kick-on’s guaranteed to be going off. Why not grab tickets to JunglePussy (30th June), Emerson Stone (4th July) or Death by Denim (6th July)?
The best place for an afterparty: The Flinders
An iconic venue with history, The Flinders Hotel regularly hosts after-parties for live music acts across Sydney. First opening in 1916, The Flinders has been many changes. From the 80’s to 00’s, The Flinders was one of the hottest LGBT clubs in Darlinghurst. After reopening officially in 2016, it’s better than ever before. With a great atmosphere, great pizza, and great music, you just can’t go wrong.
Whatever you decide to hit up, don’t forget to book yourself in for a cozy night post-gig. We’ve got some great options that won’t break the bank.
