The Canadian legend himself Dallas Green/Alexisonfire has just announced an Aussie tour, making this the 18th time he’s come Down Under and confirming he’s the clingy boyfriend we all secretly want. To support next week’s release of his new album, A Pill for Loneliness, he’ll be hitting all the top cities in April 2020.
What’s even better? Alex Lahey has been confirmed as the opening act for the tour off the back of her insane cover of ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’, originally by emo heroes My Chemical Romance. If you haven’t seen it yet, get your goddamn head out of the sand and catch this banger below, which she performed on Triple J’s Like a Version earlier this month. If Alex can get hefty praise from the iconic Gerard Way, it’s definitely worth a watch.
A Pill for Loneliness is due to come out on the 4th October, so you’ll have plenty of time to listen, cry, then memorise all the songs before the tour starts. It’s also City & Colour’s first studio album since 2015’s If I Should Go Before You.
“I wrote a lot of dark songs and wrapped them in the most beautiful sounds we could find,” Green comments. “There are personal connotations, but they’re also relatable. I’m thankful for the opportunity to create.”
Catch City & Colour in Adelaide, Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart. We’ve also compiled a couple of handy wallet-friendly accommodation options for you.
