O Lord! Cub Sport return with a new track

July 4, 2017

After the success of their debut album ‘This Is Our Vice’ last year, including their #24 Hottest 100 track ‘Come On Mess Me Up’, Brisbane’s indie pop champs Cub Sport return with the first taste of their forthcoming second record.

‘O Lord’ is a stunning, gospel-inspired, harmony-laden pop gem – a mix we’ve come to expect from this crew ever since their EPIC cover of Kanye West’s ‘Ultralight Beam’ for Triple J’s Like a Version…

The spine-tingling yet still bouncy O Lord also contains a powerful personal message from the band, as lead singer Tim Nelson explained to Triple J’s Veronica and Lewis;

“To give you a bit of context: Sam and I came out in the middle of last year and we got together. It went really well. Our families and everyone were amazing, it was weird because it was the start of the happiest I’ve ever been. Being able to be my true self, being with the love of my life, having all my family and friends loving me for me.”

“But what I didn’t expect was the feeling of suddenly having everything to lose. I think when things are really good, your mind sometimes start to look for the next thing that you can fear. It was written from that place.”

More emotional and heartfelt tracks are expected to fill the Cub’s new album, which should be out sometime later this year. That being said, some lucky fans have already received an in-person sneak preview of O Lord live when the band performed in their hometown supporting Big Scary in June…
