Here’s to the Mums of Music

May 11, 2018

Oh, Mums of the world, how much we owe to you. From literally carrying us in your body to raising us into half-decent adults, your love is unparalleled. If you’ve been hiding under a rock, Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and to celebrate, we’ve pulled together a playlist to honour all of the mums who are killing it in the music game. So, whether you’re in need of background music to motivate while running around for last minute gifts, or even gift inspiration in the form of a gig ticket, then look no further…

P!nk

For some reason, Aussies just can’t get enough of P!nk. Is it her ‘take-no-crap’ attitude? Her personal story telling through song? Her death-defying acrobatics that put Cirque du Soleil to shame? I guess we’ll never know. What we do know is that P!nk has had a pretty huge career; from girl band, to solo artist, to mum, and Aussies lap it up. Alecia Moore is back later this year with another mammoth tour – we’re talking 35 shows across five cities. Check out the details below:

Tina Arena

Ms. Arena is one of Australia’s most beloved pop exports. Who hasn’t dramatically sung along to ‘Chains’ at least once? Nobody, that’s who. Tina kicked off her career over forty years ago, appearing as Tiny Tina on then popular TV talent show, Young Talent Time. These days, she’s been kicking it with the kings of kitsch, Client Liaison, and is set to star in the Aussie production of Evita. Grab mum a ticky for M’Day?

Beyoncé

No one is more at the top of their game than Queen B. I mean she literally performed two mammoth Coachella performances less than a year after giving birth to twins. TWINS. And remember her reveal of baby Blue Ivy at the MTV VMAs? Iconic. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, rumours are swirling that Beyoncé is set to bring her On The Run II Tour down under. Watch this space.

Cher

It’s hard to name another artist who’s remained relevant like Cher has. Her first song came out over half a century ago. Wow. Since then, the ‘Believe’ singer has sung, danced and acted her way through an impressive career, all whilst juggling motherhood. And now, hot off the heels of her 2018 Mardi Gras performance, Cher has announced a national Aussie tour. Last minute gift for mum = sorted.

Katie Noonan

Katie Noonan has the voice of an angel. There are no alternative facts to this. Opera, pop, rock, jazz – our Katie can do it all. With two children to partner and co-collaborator, Isaaac Hurren, Katie is one mum who’s killing the business. From performing with everyone’s favourite aviation act, Flight Facilities, to rounding out the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, there’s no stopping Katie.

Shania Twain

Before Taylor, there was Shania. The OG Queen of country-pop has sold over 100 million records, making her the best-selling female country artist of all time. Whilst racking up record sales, Shania also raised her Son, Eja. That does impresses us very much. Get your twang on when Ms. Twain takes to Aussie stages across the country at the back end of 2018.
