Coachella artists you can catch in Australia

April 23, 2018

Look, I dunno about you guys, but after seeing the incredible shows from the first weekend of Coachella, we’re currently feeling MASSIVE FOMO.

Last weekend saw the biggest stars on the planet take the stage, with artists such as Vince Staples, Kygo, The Weeknd, Tyler the Creator, Vance Joy, Portugal. The Man, and OZESZA. Oh in case the line-up couldn’t get any bigger, the Queen of Pop (and life itself) Beyonce and one of raps biggest names Eminem rounded off the weekend.

Don’t worry, we’re crying too :’(

Unless you were lucky enough to snag yourself some flights and tix, us Aussies can only dream seeing such an A+ line-up on our shores. But not all hope is lost, as some of the big names from Coachella will be coming down under this year, and you can’t miss out on the chance to see them live! Check out our list below.

Alison Wonderland

Sydney’s own Alison Wonderland made her debut at Coachella this year, and it’s safe to say she did the nation proud and absolutely killed it!

Alison has been busy these last couple of months, with her second LP Awake being released in early April, an announcement of a massive US tour, and slots at (arguably) the biggest festivals in the world: Coachella and Tomorrowland. The best part? She made history at Coachella being the highest-billed female DJ in the festival’s history.

Alison will thankfully be making a return to Aus in May for shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to launch her new album, as well as a show at Vivid Live. So don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of chances to see ya girl.

Don’t miss your chance to see her live when she comes back home! As if you need a bed to crash after the Alison Wonderland gigs, we’ve got you covered in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane!

Portugal. The Man

American rockers Portugal. The Man took to the main stage last Sunday, playing just before ODESZA and Eminem. For us Aussies, we’ll be lucky enough to sing ‘Feel It Still’ with them when they come down under for Groovin the Moo and headline shows!

The boys from Alaska released their latest LP Woodstock in 2017, and will be coming back to our shores to play massive shows at Groovin the Moo and headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. So there is no excuse to miss out on seeing these guys live!

You can’t pass on this chance to party with the guys as they take to our stages! And dw, if you need a place to rest your weary head afterwards, we’ve got beds ready for you in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane for their headline shows, as well as a sweet $1 breakfast deal for you to get around for Groovin the Moo!

Vance Joy

Alison Wonderland wasn’t the only artist proudly representing our country at Coachella this year! Australia’s favourite son Vance Joy also played on the main stage last Sunday, playing just before the Queen Cardi B. Imagine how wild would a Cardi B and Vance Joy collab be!

Love in the air yesterday at Coachella. Good memories @bradcauchy

Vance has gone from a household name on triple J to international superstar, and recently released his second LP Nation of Two in February this year. On top of that, his massive slot at Coachella this year signals that it’s not just Aussie’s who have fallen in love with him!

Fortunately, Melbourne’s hottest export atm will be coming back to Australia to commence on a huge national tour which will be supported by rising stars Cub Sport and Didirri. With tickets selling out like wild fire, jump on the last one’s while you can!

St. Vincent

That’s right. You read that correctly. Oklahoma’s finest singer-songwriter of today St. Vincent not only played a huge show last Sunday at Coachella, but she’ll be making her way to Aus as part of Vivid Live this year!

Known for her unique blend of musical styles and genres, St. Vincent will be headlining the Sydney festival with other international acts Ice Cube and Solange. After releasing her fifth LP Masseducation in 2017, you can expect to hear the big singles from the album as well as her classics!

With tickets going thick and fast to see the Grammy award winner in the flesh, don’t miss out on this chance to see her live! And if you need a bed to crash in Sydney, we’ve got you sorted!

So don’t be too sad when you watch the Coachella footage this weekend! There’s plenty of your favourite artists coming to our shores this year. And if you want some cheap breaky after your gig, our $1 breakfast deal at ibis Hotels around the country is perfect for you.
